Crippled Black Phoenix (SE)

Crippled Black Phoenix is an English dark rock / experimental collective founded in 2004 by multi‐instrumentalist Justin Greaves. Their sound blends elements of post-rock, progressive rock, psychedelic/ambient atmospheres, folk-influenced instrumentation, and occasional macabre or melancholic tones - Greaves himself calls much of their work “endtime ballads.” Lyrically and thematically, they often explore issues of marginalization, the voiceless (animals, those “different” in society), and the human condition. They have a large, rotating lineup of musicians drawn from other bands, and live shows often feature elaborate arrangements with both modern & older / folk or Victorian-era instruments
